A former player, who underwent a cancer surgery, reveals her condition

The captain of the Italian Fed Cup team and former tennis player Tathiana Garbin has undergone a second surgery for a rare tumor, which she has been fighting for some time. The captain of the Italian women's team - who unfortunately was unable to lead Italy to the Billie Jean King Cup Final as she wanted - is fighting a very important battle, which we all hope she can defeat as soon as possible. The 46-year-old former tennis player immediately received full support from her girls, who decided to visit her in hospital a few days before the surgery, waiting to try again together to bring Italy back to victory in Billie Jean King Cup, after over 10 years.

Tathiana Garbin reassures her fans about her condition

This was the message shared by the former tennis player shortly before the surgical operation: "Today, I would like to share with all of you an important part of my life journey. It is with serenity and confidence that I announce that in October I underwent surgery to treat a rare cancer. It is my intention to share this personal experience with the aim of raising awareness among the public and athletes of the importance of medical research and prevention. Early diagnosis and proper medical support are key to facing any challenge and I hope my story can inspire others to pay attention to their health." Now, Tathiana has shared a new message to reassure her supporters. "Hello everyone. The surgery went well thanks to the professionalism and competence of Prof. Lippolis and his entire medical team to whom I extend my deepest gratitude. Thank you all for the messages of support and closeness. See you soon," she explained, making all her supporters breathe a sigh of relief.  After her victory in the Davis Cup, Jannik Sinner also wanted to express a thought for Garbin: "It's an important day for Tathiana and I hope that this victory can give her strength. We will all be with her. Here we talk about winning the Davis Cup, history is made and we are all happy. But what matters in life is something else and we should all feel lucky to be in this position we are in. In these hours we are all with her."
