Andy Roddick comments on Novak Djokovic absolutely dominating Carlos Alcaraz

Andy Roddick was absolutely impressed by the masterclass performance Novak Djokovic delivered against Carlos Alcaraz in their ATP Finals match. On Saturday, world No 1 Djokovic destroyed second-ranked Alcaraz 6-3 6-2 in the semifinal in Turin. Considering their matchup history, many expected Djokovic and Alcaraz to deliver another slugfest. But what was expected to be an absolute battle and a thriller, ended up being a pretty one-sided battle as Djokovic gave no chance to Alcaraz. "It’s just absurd. And his winner-to-error ratio is about even. Novak just one-ups him kind of everywhere. Putting a three and two beating on someone who is clearly the second-best player in the world this year, who has beaten you in a Grand Slam final. I mean, no disrespect to Alcaraz because he is as special a prospect as we’ve seen in 20 years. But Novak is just too tough, especially on this surface. This surface does more for Novak’s game than it does for Alcaraz’s game," Roddick said on Tennis Channel. 

The match actually started with Alcaraz applying some pressure early on as the Spaniard had two consecutive break points in the opening game. However, Djokovic was able to save those break points and avoid going down by an early break. After saving early break points, Djokovic claimed the first break of the match in the eighth game for a 5-3 lead. In the following game, Djokovic routinely served out for the first set after realizing his first set point. After winning the first set, Djokovic also earned the first break of the second set in the third game. Djokovic missed out on a break point in the fifth game but still went up by a double break after breaking the Spaniard in the seventh game for a 5-2 lead. Up by a set and a double break, Djokovic routinely closed out the match in the eighth game.
