In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Boris Becker analyzed Jannik Sinner's current form and the match that could take him to the final at the US Open.

Jannik is about to experience another day with the spotlight fully on him at the Arthur Ashe Stadium: the Italian will play his first career semifinal at the US Open and will clash with the British Jack Draper. A great opportunity to win the second Slam of his career in the same year in which he conquered the first.

"It will not be such an easy challenge for him but in the end I think Sinner will win. Draper will certainly be nervous: even if he has not lost a set since the beginning of the tournament, this is his first Slam semifinal and in these matches experience counts a lot. Plus, being doubles partners, Jannik knows his game well," said Becker.

In a hypothetical ending, the German coach also spoke about the two Americans who will face each other in the evening session: "Jannik has already beaten Frances Tiafoe in the final in Cincinnati, maybe Taylor Fritz is a bit more dangerous because he serves very well, but I think that once in the final the world number 1 will have extra motivation."

Holger Rune's former coach then mentioned the rivalry between Jannik and Carlos Alcaraz, analyzing: "He won Roland Garros and Wimbledon and many consider the Spaniard the player of the year, even if he is ranked number 3. Jannik is a proud man and I am sure that he will want to equal Carlos in the number of Slams of the season and close the debate."

Finally, on the doping issue which came out on last August 20th (but which involved a positivity to clostebol at the BNP Paribas Open di Indian Wells), Boris added: "Jannik suffered for months because of the positive test, but he won his battle and proved his innocence. I know Jannik and I am absolutely sure of his honesty and I am very happy for him, for the team and his family, that everything was resolved with the acquittal."
