Daniil Medvedev makes very interesting announcement for start of 2024

Daniil Medvedev reveals his plan for the start of the 2024 season is to go straight to the Australian Open without playing any leading up tournaments and see how that works for him. In 2023, 27-year-old Medvedev had another busy season as he appeared in 21 tournaments. In the majority of those 21 tournaments, Medvedev made deep runs. In the end, Medvedev played a total of 84 matches and claimed 66 wins and lost 18 times. After losing to Jannik Sinner in the semifinal of the ATP Finals, Medvedev revealed he and his wife are going on a vacation. While revealing that, Medvedev also shared that his 2024 season will likely start in mid-January when the time comes for the Australian Open.

Medvedev plans to start his 2024 season at the Australian Open

"Every year was different. To be honest, I haven't been on like off-season vacation as some players. You never know. One time I had Davis Cup. Last year we had a small baby, so... I was straightaway back to the duties. This year we're going to go with my wife to the islands. First time in maybe four, five years. She doesn't like it too much there because there is not much to do. But for me, that's perfect after a hectic season. I love it (smiling). I'm probably going to play only Australian Open. Going to try like this to have more of a vacation time than usual and more of a (indiscernible) off-season time and start with a slam straightaway, which is going to be new for me. But let's see," Medvedev said. This year, Medvedev started his 2023 season in the first week of the season at the Adelaide International - where he was beaten by Novak Djokovic in the semifinal. After Adelaide, Medvedev went to the Australian Open, where he was surprisingly beaten by Sebastian Korda in the third round. There is no doubt that Medvedev will be looking to have a much better Australian Open run in 2024.
