Kei Nishikori will play the Miami Open thanks to a wild-card

The names of the participants in the two American hard court tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami have been revealed and, among the many come back, there is also Kei Nishikori. The organizers of the Miami Open 2024 have distributed the first wild-cards, among which there are many expected protagonists.
As for the WTA tournaments, Venus Williams will return to play the WTA 1000 tournament in Florida. There will also be two other Slam champions such as Caroline Wozniacki and Emma Raducanu.

The biggest surprise however is the return to the court - as mentioned at the beginning of the article -of Kei Nishikori, who recently started working with the Swede Thomas Johansson, champion of the 2002 Australian Open and former coach of Wozniacki, Maria Sakkari and David Goffin.
The Japanese tennis player wants to try to relaunch himself and the organizers of the American tournament have decided to offer him the opportunity to take part in one of the most important events of the ATP Tour.

Winner of 12 ATP titles, his career was dotted with injuries, which limited his talent. First the hip operation, then the ankle and knee injuries have totally affected his last two seasons, in which the Japanese managed to take part in only three tournaments.
His last appearance on the ATP Tour dates back to July 2023, when he lost in the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 in Atlanta against Taylor Fritz. His last triumph dates back to June 12, 2023, when Nishikori won the Challenger trophy in Palmas del Mar, Puerto Rico.
The Japanese tennis player, former finalist at the 2014 US Open, currently occupies position 353 in the ATP ranking, but his return to Miami is highly anticipated by many of his fans.
