Nick Kyrgios funnily claims Thanasi Kokkinakis actually "loves it" when he starts revealing some controversial stuff about him. In his tennis analyst debut, Kyrgios revealed some details from his winning 2022 Australian Open doubles run with good friend Kokkinakis. "He (Kokkinakis) was having a good time. I was doing ice baths in the morning, getting up at 7 am doing, like, chipped returns in doubles and I'm like, 'What am I doing here?' I was the only person at Melbourne Park practicing and he was just rolling in from a night out. People would think it would be the reverse. People would be like, 'Kyrgios is the one that's going out,'" Kyrgios said on Tennis Channel. After seeing Kyrgios' revelation, Kokkinakis wrote on X: "Mans doin me dirty here." In Tennis Channel's studio, Kyrgios and the crew addressed Kokkinakis' post on X. "Thanasi loves it when I start saying some controversial things about him. His DMs will be flowing," Kyrgios said on Tennis Channel.

For the 2022 Australian Open doubles event, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis were granted a main draw wildcard. Going into the 2022 Australian Open doubles tournament, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis had a 1-4 record as a pair on the main level. But then, something just clicked in their doubles game and they ended up winning it all. "I think we won one match there prior in, like, five years. We had the worst concentration, we couldn't play together, it was just a train wreck. He sent me a Whatsapp, said: 'Do you want to play?' and I was like: 'Yeah, whatever, let's play,' and then we ended up winning the title. It was one of the most out-of-the-blue things ever, and to do it with him, I wouldn't have wanted to do it with anyone else," Kyrgios said earlier this week.
