Fans and insiders have very high expectations on Emma Raducanu for 2025. The British player has shown positive signs in the 2024 season, defeating several high-level opponents and finally showing a good attitude on court.
Emma's life and career have totally changed since the 2021 US Open, when she shocked the whole world by winning her first Grand Slam title in New York. The current world number 59 struggled more than expected to handle the pressure and the next two years fell far short of expectations between injuries and repeated coach changes.

Emma has the right weapons to achieve a prestigious result at the Australian Open, but she will also have to hope for a favorable draw. Her main goal in the coming season is to play more tournaments, limit the number of injuries and get closer to the Top 10 of the WTA ranking again.
Raducanu wants to shine againThe entire WTA tour hopes that Raducanu can return to the highest level, being a player much loved by fans and who receives a lot of attention from sponsors. Emma has the charisma to become one of the iconic faces of the WTA around the world, but her rise has slowed down drastically in the last two years.
It's likely that her shocking US Open triumph was premature and that she wasn't ready to handle that success, but the Brit still has plenty of time to rebuild her career.

She’s too athletic. She’s too motivated when she’s in between the lines. I think sometimes there have been a few times when she hasn’t been as prepared as she would like to be.
I have 100 per cent confidence she will do the work in the off-season. There’s nobody out there that’s going to enjoy playing Emma when she’s fully fit and fully motivated. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to sit here and say to you that she’s going to be pushing a lot of the top 10 players consistently over the next twelve months.
Petchey also added: “But there has to be a commitment to week in week out tournaments. The dipping in and out doesn’t help the physical side of things. I want her to have longevity in the sport. I don’t want her out of the sport at 26 or 27.
Her team should be looking at how they manage her from here on in for another fifteen years of playing this sport if that’s what she wants to do. I think she’s well placed to do that.”
Emma is working hardIf she continues to work on her game and grow, Emma has a great chance of winning more Major titles in the coming years. Raducanu's potential is still partially untapped and it will be crucial for her to listen to the advice of her new team.
During the pre-season, the current world number 59 will have to improve a lot from a physical point of view having had too many injuries in recent seasons. Her body has already given worrying signs for such a young player and it is necessary to intervene so as not to jeopardize her future. It will be important for the British champion to start 2025 with brilliant results (especially in the first Grand Slam of the year), so as to gain confidence for the rest of the season.
In the same interview, Petchey expressed his point of view on Raducanu's career: “I’m a big believer that you should follow your own path. There certainly wasn’t a blueprint for Emma to win the US Open, which she did. And I don’t think she should be following anyone’s path.
“Whatever path she’s trodden in the last couple of years is something that she owns. The knowledge from that sort of journey that she’s been on, she needs to implement without looking at anyone else.
“You can be inspired by other people, but when you’re as good as Emma and from the lessons she has learned, she knows that puts her in the best place to play the best tennis.
“Tennis is an individual sport for a reason. You need to be very selfish in your outlook to do the things that are right for you rather than look at other people.”
