Stefanos Tsitsipas will be one of the great protagonists of the Laver Cup 2024, which will be played from 20 to 22 September in Berlin. The Greek, who is going through a difficult period, hopes to be reborn at the event founded by Roger Federer in honour of the legendary Australian, to put a very difficult year behind him and start dreaming again.

The Greek came from a physical problem that had prevented him from taking part in the Davis Cup with his Greece, a problem now completely resolved.

Tsitsipas, interviewed by the Laver Cup website, revealed that thanks to this event he was able to meet his idols Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

"The event brought me closer to my heroes, their personalities and how they feel in real life. I got to see them in a different way, on a different scale than before. And I got to meet them, talk to them in a way that I don't usually do when I'm on tour. It brought back a lot of emotions and a lot of wonderful memories. I also felt grateful for my whole journey to the Laver Cup, because I felt like I had come a long way to earn my spot on that team and, in a way, it was very reflective of my journey and everything I did to earn my spot," he explained.

There is one person in particular that the Greek mentioned: Bjorn Borg. This will be his last term as coach of the team, before he leaves the position to Yannick Noah.

"Having Borg at the helm of the team has probably been one of the greatest experiences of my life. He is literally a living legend. Having him on the bench, providing support and assistance from time to time, has been very comforting and refreshing. I am grateful that he has been able to guide us in his own way and bring wisdom and knowledge to the sport," he said.

Joining the three-time Monte Carlo Rolex Masters champion there will be Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, Casper Ruud and Grigor Dimitrov, looking to reverse a trend that has seen Team Europe lose their last three previous meetings with Team World.
