Tennis fans have ridiculed luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton for posting an edited image of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on social media.
The French company recently shared an image from their ‘Core Values’ campaign on Instagram, which shows legendary players Federer and Nadal sat on a snowy mountain in the Dolomites with Louis Vuitton backpacks.
Federer and Nadal were once fierce rivals in tennis but are now close friends, having dominated the sport together for around two decades, winning a combined total of 42 major singles titles before they retired.
‘A legendary journey to the top,’ Louis Vuitton wrote on Instagram alongside their edited image of Federer and Nadal.
‘Louis Vuitton's Core Values campaign continues as an ode to dedicated perseverance with tennis legends @rogerfederer and @rafaelnadal journeying together, transcending sporting rivalry and embracing companionship.
‘Side by side amid the majestic peaks of the Dolomites, they embody a shared ascent that reflects their mutual respect and friendship.’
Tennis fans have poked fun at Louis Vuitton in the comments as @leonardo_stoppioni posted: ‘Worse than Jaguar’s rebrand.’
A second tennis fan, @sanchman21, left a comment which racked up over 1,000 likes as he said: ‘Nah it looks AI generated.’
‘How badly do you want this to look edited,’ @joel_viju added, which has attracted over 3,000 likes.
‘They actually took them there, shot on location and then edited to make it look fake?’ @deepu_mynameis wrote.
‘At 3000m in short sleeves, on the snow on a sunless day,’ @flaviofrigo pointed out. ‘But of course with a Vuitton backpack. Very believable indeed…’
‘Rafa is freezing,’ @gunjantripathi posted with three laughing face emojis.
‘Give me a f***ing break,’ @rosswalters8 said. ‘This is awful.’
