Andre Agassi's ex-coach details why Novak Djokovic is now 'undoubtedly the GOAT'

Coach Darren Cahill thinks Novak Djokovic is now undoubtedly the greatest player of all time. By winning this year's US Open, Djokovic became the first-ever male player with 24 Grand Slam titles. Earlier this year, Djokovic became the player with the most weeks spent at the world No 1 spot. Now, Djokovic is also tied with Margaret Court on tennis' all-time Grand Slam record of 24 Slams. Considering that Djokovic won three Grand Slams this year, many expect the Serb to win more Slams next year and become the first-ever tennis player with 25+ Majors. Cahill, who worked with Andre Agassi and Simona Halep in the past and now works with Jannik Sinner, thinks Djokovic put an end to the GOAT debate. "To win 24 Grand Slams, I mean the guy is the greatest I have ever seen, I don't think there is any question about this anymore. We could all have our favorites, Roger, Rafa, Rod Laver for me, winning two Grand Slams (Calendar), last one in '69, which was a remarkable effort. But to do what Novak has done and come from way behind when Rafa and Roger had a big Grand Slam total, and actually pass them on the Grand Slam total, remarkable performance. And there's more to come from him too," Cahill said on the Advantage Connors podcast.

After the US Open, Djokovic also returned to the world No 1 spot. Djokovic now has 11,795 ranking points while Alcaraz is second with 8,535 points. But Djokovic has a notable number of points to defend in the rest of the year while Alcaraz doesn't have much points to defend. Addressing that, Cahill says he is excited to watch Djokovic and Alcaraz battle for the Year-End No 1 ranking. "Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic more than likely, I'm not sure how far away Medvedev is at No 3, but feels like, he and Novak Djokovic are in a race for No 1 and 2 at the moment to the year-end ranking. So I'm sure it's gonna be really a privilege to be able to watch those two guys fight for that, No 1 year-end ranking," Cahill said.
