Boris Becker shuts down Ivan Ljubicic's 'false' quote about him, Novak Djokovic

Boris Becker has shut down Ivan Ljubicic's claim about Novak Djokovic that recently went viral as the German tennis legend insists he never told the Croatian that "Djokovic accepted the superiority of Carlos Alcaraz."

In this past Wimbledon final, Alcaraz dismantled Djokovic 6-2 6-2 7-6 (4) to win his second title at The Championships. And for a second consecutive year, it came by the 21-year-old Spaniard beating the seven-time Wimbledon champion in the final.

A few days later, former world No. 3 and Roger Federer's ex long-time coach Ljubicic was reflecting on the Wimbledon final when he also made one comment that involved former six-time Slam champion Becker.

“Boris Becker recently told me that it seems to him that Djokovic practically accepted the superiority of Alcaraz, which he never did with Nadal and Federer. We are not far from a complete change of generations. That’s life," Ljubicic said in one of his recent interviews.

On X, a tennis fan decided to ask Becker about it.

"Did you really say this @TheBorisBecker? I don’t agree and I hope you don’t either!" the message read.

Becker responded: "Never said it!"

After Becker was applauded by one fan for "calling out misinformation," the German tennis legend added: "Unless you hear it coming from me directly, never believe what third parties speak about me…"

While Becker may not have said what had been reported in the last couple of days, Djokovic did make one admission after his Wimbledon final loss - he said he was "Inferior" on the court to Alcaraz and highlighted that he needed to improve to stand a legitimate chance of beating the Spaniard and Jannik Sinner in Grand Slams.

Meanwhile, Djokovic is now preparing for the Paris Olympics, where he could possibly meet Alcaraz but not Sinner after the Italian pulled out of the event.
