Zheng Qinwen funnily explains why she is 'a really confused person'

Zheng Qinwen used a pretty funny way to describe herself ahead of the Paris Olympics as the 21-year-old Chinese tennis star says she is "a really confused person" who can be really straightforward on certain days but that there are also times when even she doesn't know what she is feeling or thinking.

Since the start of 2024, Zheng has had some outstanding moments on the court but also tough periods.

Most notably, the 21-year-old reached her first Grand Slam final at the Australian Open and she also secured a top-10 ranking for the first time in her career.

After finishing as runner-up to Aryna Sabalenka in the final at Melbourne Park, Zheng had a rough stretch and her last two Slams weren't great either - she lost in the French Open third round and exited Wimbledon in the first round.

But after a shock Wimbledon loss to Lulu Sun, Zheng managed to defend a title for the first time in her career after beating Karolina Muchova in last week's Palermo final.

“I feel I'm a really confused person. There are some days I can really express myself and be able to listen to everyone. But there are some days when I like to close myself, just listen what I'm feeling, what I'm thinking," Zheng told tennis.com.

While Zheng is regarded as one of the most talented young players, she is also a very likable personality among fans and she is becoming a fan favorite in some ways.

But now that Zheng is a Slam finalist and a top-10 player, there are bigger expectations and pressure on her, as well as a bigger attention.

And now, the 21-year-old reveals she has been trying to learn on the go throughout 2024.

“Right now, I'm more accepting. There's nothing perfect. Even on a tennis court, the shot doesn't always go where you like. The opponent doesn't play (how) you expect that they play. The crowd also acts different than what you are thinking," Zheng explained.

Meanwhile, Zheng is currently preparing to make her Olympic debut in Paris.
